You're known for creating natural looking custom wigs with precision haircuts, what inspires you?
Because I specialize in women's short cuts. I have always tried to figure out a way, how I can gain more clients that were not necessarily interested in cutting their hair, but wanted to explore the possibilities of having a short sexy style. Also I wanted to help women who had suffered hair loss an option to get your confidence back. It inspires me to create something that looks so natural that spectators are left wondering if that could actually be their natural hair!
What effect has social networking had on "StylesByChristina82"?
It has tremendously helped my business grow. In the 2 years I've been doing hair, I woud say at least 75% of new clientele comes from social media.
What do you find most rewarding about hairdressing?
Giving women confidence, getting their sexy back and helping them fall in love with their hair.
How do you balance being a hairstylist and a Gospel musician?
God, family and then career! I Have a great support system in my husband and children. It can have it's challenges but overall I just try to focus, while multitasking.
What advice would you give the up and coming hairstylist on building a clientele?
Be professional, be reliable, be integral. Give your clients an experience, make them remember you. Know your craft, always be a student, be kind and always have a plan.
Is there anyone in the industry that inspires you to dream bigger? If so who and why?
WOW! There are so many to choose from, but the one that comes to mind is Najah Aziz, of Like the River Salon in Atlanta. I really admire her work and I've trained with her. More importantly I admire her brand, it's amazing!!
What are your short term career goals?
Right now I'm working on finally opening my first salon in the next 12 months.
What are your most and least favorite hair trends today?
It's a total contradiction...but waves. I love doing waves but hate doing them at the same time. It's just that everyone wants them. Waves are very trendy right now. I just like more variety, but hey you gotta give your clients what they're looking for.
