Masters level stylists Jeremy Scott has over 18 years experience in hair. For nine incredible years Jeremy had the opportunity to work with Cathy Shavers (head stylist of Image Makers style team) in Virginia Beach, VA and later at Hair Art Salon. Throughout the years he has had the pleasure of working with different instructors learning the all fundamentals of total hair care, perfecting hair and creating his own personal vision. During this time, he rightfully earned the name as “The Head Hunter ”.
Jeremy “The Head Hunter” Scott, has competed in a variety of different hair shows throughout the east coast, working as a hair educator, hair platform stylist, and wedding planner. While being featured on the cover on dozens of magazines including Xtreme, Style Q, Salon Profile, Hot Atlanta, Salon Digest, and Hair Gallery magazines. Jeremy has become internationally known in the hair and fashion industry from his creative visions.
In 2004 Jeremy “The Head Hunter” Scott, started his journey to compete in hair competitions and hair battles. He has won an array of competitions over the years including: 2004 Male stylist of the year (The Golden Scissors Award). In 2005, he won Best Male Stylist for hair publications and in 2006 Best Male stylist for Hair “N” Motions. In 2007, received the Stylist of the year for International Hair Publications Style Q in Virginia.
In 2008, he won Weave Master for Harlem 125 in Richmond, VA. Jeremy was also named Fashion Stylist for Hair “N” Motion. Later winning the Xtreme Hair Battle in Killeen, Texas in 2009 and in 2010, the winner of the Lawrence Brothers Hair Show.
Jeremy’s experience in hair range from Malaysian weaves, 45-minute sew-ins, quick weaves with invisible parts, fusions, several cutting techniques, and natural hair and advance educator. In addition, to being a Tri-state stylist for consumers and celebrities, Jeremy is a member of Glam Elite Agency where he serves as a hair and fashion consultant.
Jeremy has a strong background and is experienced in hair and fashion. His creativity and extensive experience is shared with consumers, peers and students Jeremy’s expertise will continue to grow and wow the world with his unique gifts and creativity in hair and fashion.
How would you describe "The Head Hunter"
style?
The headhunter style is out the box and rule bending.
You are the "Photo Shoot King" What's the best way for stylists to go from the salon to editorials and runways?
When it comes to photo shoots you may have to pay to be in the books and it can range from $50 to $500 depending on the hair magazine. Networking is always the best, you can't be scared to get out there.
Do you prefer the energy of a photo shoot or the intimacy of the salon?
Both ( Photo shoots are like letting the nation/world see my creativity. The Salon because of the one-on-one time with your client.
When did you realize that hair styling was your gift?
Around the age of 13.
What's your least favorite part about hairdressing?
Cheap clients that don't want to pay, but want the works.
How has social networking impacted the Head Hunter?
I can't say that it has a big impact on me, I'm actually old school but I can say that it brings me clients.
Is there anyone in the industry that inspires you to dream bigger?
Yes, Yancey Edwards, Chuck Amos, and Oscar James.
What are your short term career goals?
It's to do more branding for myself. I'm currently getting my instructor license so I would like to teach throughout the week. Also become a key hair grip for a national/international television broadcasting networks and to do more A- List Celebrities.
Are you for or against stylists doing "how to's" on Youtube? Why or why not?
Not for it because stylist like myself, we put time into our craft and techniques. So why do it for free when you can get paid for it.
What are some of your favorite hair trends today?
I love Color, The California bang, that's when it's a very low side part and the hair is very full to the opposite side.
