How long have you been doing hair?

"I've been doing hair for 2 years. Before that I was working factory jobs in different cities tryin to make ends meet so that I could raise my son. After being fired from several of those jobs I realized that being an "employee" didn't work for me. I needed to become a "boss". I've always had an interest in hair. I braided as a little girl but I never knew anything about quickweaves, sew-ins, or updos. While workin on my last job, I had a co-worker that came into work with an invisible part quickweave. I was eager to know how she did it. It was unbelievable to me. She told me that she learned to do it on YouTube. She proceeded to tell me that u can learn about style on YouTube! So I began to watch YouTube every night. After about 2 wks I began to tell my boyfriend that I wanted to quit work and enroll in cosmetology school. He said go for it but before I had the opportunity to quit...I was fired the next week! Looking at this as a sign from God, I gratefully enrolled into Final Touch Beauty School the next day!"

Do you think great hairdressing is a God-given gift or can it be learned?

"I think hairdressing is a talent. A lot of people don't realize it. All those nights I spent on YouTube never once taught me how to do an updo. It only taught me how to weave! Weaving to me can be shown to you by anyone. But when you can dig down into yourself and mold the hair into positions you never thought it could be, I think u have talent! I feel that most of these kind of stylists are artists and they have a very creative mind! This is the part you can't be taught. It's definitely God-given."

The Pros and Cons of Hairdressing

"Doing hair has definitely been a blessing to me. My life has changed financially of course but most of all I am able to change the life of others! I can't recall a time where I've had a client who didn't get out the chair and feel more beautiful than she did when coming in! It's almost as if they look forward to seeing me for the self-esteem boost! It makes my day to see them smile upon looking in that mirror! But of course there are cons to this hair game. The competition and the hate is so real. You have to worry about self and keep your own work up to par, but no matter how much you try, there's always another stylist who feels threatened by your work! You also have the "friends" that think they're entitled to discounts and late nights! It's all a challenge but you should never let these get you off track."

Do you specialize in anything, also what products and tools are your must haves?

"Although I love doing weaves, I don't like to think of myself as a specialist. I Pretty much do it all. My clients can come to me at anytime for any style."

"I can't go to work without my needle, thread, glue, shears and pump it up! These are my must haves. I can feed my family everyday if I have access to these!"
