Celebrity Hairstylist Ursula Stephen is the hairstylist responsible for the beautiful hairstyles worn by superstar Rhianna. Ursula has shared her expert tips and personal trade secrets with popular fashion and beauty publications such as People Magazine, Essence and US Weekly. Her impeccable product and styling knowledge is why she is repeatedly requested to perform hair makeovers on today's high profile celebrities. Ursula Stephen is the Global Ambassador for Motions.
(NY Mag interviewed Ursula Stephen here's some of what she had to say)
Ursula was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She began doing hair in junior high school. She was never satisfied with the way stylists did her hair. Ursula would leave the salon unhappy, go home and "make it prettier." This prompted Ursula's mom to let her set up shop in their basement. Where she styled her friends' hair, Ursula knew then that she only wanted to do hair. Her mom's hairstylist advised her mom to enroll Ursula in the Sarah J Hale Vocational School, which "changed her life." Here she learned there is "no difference" in Black and White hair. Ursula says; "hair is hair, a cut is a cut. I don't look at hair in terms of race, I look at it as textures."
The Ursula Stephen Salon star studded Grand Opening was May 8, 2013. The salon is located in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn at 66 Lafayette Ave. Ursula wants the salon to be "versatile, I dreamed of an atmosphere where it was mixed together. A place where you will see a White girl getting a blowout and a Black girl getting a weave."
"I have to make this career and salon stick. I can't type. I'm not waking up for someone else at 9 am anymore."
